Issyk-Kul reserve is the biggest one on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. It consists of 12 separate parts with general area more than 19500 hectares. Issyk-Kul national reserve was established in 1948 with main goal to preserve water recourses of the lake.
Conservation of waterfowls such as swan, grey goose, mallard and many other species is one of the main objectives of the reserve. More than 10 bird species and 13 insect species that are included in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan are under the guard of the reserve. Tourist of Issyk-Kul might not only see the beauty of the nature but also observe interesting fauna of these places.
