Chunkurchak Gorge

A small gorge named Chunkurchak is located at the Alamedin river head, at the distance of 45 km from Bishkek. On the territory of the gorge the National Biosphere Reserve is formed to save from extinction rare species of tulips. The Royal Tulip, majestic and beautiful flower, grows here. It is incredible, but its height reaches 17 cm.

The famous forty-meter waterfall Pigeon Falls is situated in the gorge, where the water runs down the steps of the sharp rocks. Rocky mountains with a height of 100-200 m in the gorge make it attractive for fans of mountaineering and climbing, so competitions on these sports are often held here.
