The lake water is very cold. The depth of the lake is 17 m. On the shore of Kol-Ukok you can feel silence and calmness. In the vicinity of the lake, in the mountains, you can find a variety of animals: mountain goats, wolves, foxes, marmots.
On the green meadows grow a lot of flowers, the legendary mountain edelweiss is among them. In the summer months there are yurts of shepherds, who fetch cattle to pastures (jailoo).
