About Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz Republic is a country located in the north-eastern part of Central Asia. It borders with Kazakhstan in the north, with Uzbekistan in the west, with Tajikistan in the south-west, with China in the east and south-east.

Visa free regime in the Kyrgyz Republic applies to the citizens of the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Cuba, Malaysia (up to 30 days), Mongolia (up to 90 days), Turkey (up to 30 days), Ukraine (up to 90 days), Uzbekistan (up to 60 days) and Japan.

You can get acquainted with the life and culture of the Kyrgyz people in the settlements located in different regions. In the country there are a few cities and large towns. They are the capital of the country and most of the regional centers. There you can see architectural masterpieces of the Soviet era and buildings of modern style as well.

Mountains and valleys are the main components of the relief of Kyrgyzstan. Mountains cover more than ¾ of the country. On their tops there are more than 8,000 glaciers which are important sources of fresh water. In Kyrgyzstan there are two massive mountain ranges: the Tien-Shan and Pamir-Alai.

Water resources of Kyrgyzstan are invaluable. There are more than 40,000 large and small rivers. They rapidly flow among mountains and falling down from steep rocks, they form hundreds of beautiful waterfalls.

Protected Objects of Nature help to preserve the unique natural landscapes of Kyrgyzstan in their original form. In order to save wonderful natural landscapes, flora and fauna of the country there were created 6 reserves, 2 biosphere reserves protected by UNESCO and 75 national parks.

The culture of Kyrgyz people has evolved over the centuries and up to the present time has kept its uniqueness and clearly expressed elements of the nomadic way of life. Hospitality, kindness and openness are the main qualities of the nation.
