In the north-eastern part of Batken region, about 150 km from the town of Batken is the town of Kyzyl-Kiya.
The town's population is more than 43 thousand inhabitants. In Soviet times, Kyzyl-Kiya used to be the major industrial center of the region, so all communications and infrastructure are well-preserved here.
The town is built with strong urban features. Through the town the republican roads Osh-Sulukta and Osh-Ferghana run. There is also a railway connecting Kyzyl-Kiya with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and a small airport.
