Off-Road tour through Lake Sary-Chelek

Evi-Tours invites you to take an adventure off-road trip to southern Kyrgyzstan (Lake Sary-Chelek, Arslanbob, and Jalal-Abad), the land of nomads (Lake Song-Kul, Tash Rabat, and Kichi-Naryn), and the Pearl of the Tien Shan (Lake Issyk-Kul, Karakol, and Cholpon-Ata). This trip will expose you to the fabulous, untouched natural beauty of Kyrgyzstan deep in the mountains as well as the country's many nomadic customs from people we'll meet along the way.

1

Bishkek – Chichkan Gorge

Meeting at the airport. Getting the cars. Breakfast at “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”. Departure for Chichkan gorge (length -240 km, driving time -4,5 hours). On the way you’ll see picturesque Tien-Shan canyons, gorges and Too-Ashuu pass as well. Picnic. A splendid view on Chu and Suusamyr valleys. Supper and overnight stay in the guest house on the territory of the Chichkan reserve. Rest-time on the banks of a mountainous river. Supper and overnight stay in “Oson” guest house.

Chichkan – Lake Sary-Chelek

Breakfast in the guest house. A trip to the Sary-Chelek lake via Toktogul water storage basin (length – 345 km, driving time – 5 hours). On the way a picnic in the open air. Overnight stay in the guest house. Motor boats riding - optional.

Lake Sary-Chelek– Arslanbob

Breakfast. A trip to the unique Arslanbob walnut forest (1600m above the sea level, length – 320 km, driving time - 5-6 hours). The valley is well-known for its health resorts. Supper and overnight stay in “CBT” guest house.

Arslanbob – Jalal-Abad – Kazarman

Breakfast. A trip to the nearby waterfall and later to Kazarman village via Jalal-Abad town. For dinner – national cuisine. A visit to Jalal-Abad bazaar. Supper and overnight stay in “CBT” guest house.

Kazarman- Lake Son-Kul

Breakfast. A trip to Lake Son-Kul. A picnic on the bank of the river. A passage over a picturesque pass. By the evening you’ll get to the lake. Horse games. Supper and overnight stay in national yurts.

Lake Son-Kul –Tash-Rabat

Breakfast. A trip to Tash-Rabat –a historical monument, founded by monks in the X-th century. In the era of Silk Road flourishing, Tash-Rabat lost its religious meaning and served as a hotel, i.e. a caravansary. It’s surrounded by mountain ridges. A picnic in the open air. A passage over several passes. Supper and overnight stay in national yurts. A Russian bath-optional.

Tash-Rabat – Naryn–Kichi Naryn

Breakfast. Horseback ridings. A trip to Kichi Naryn. Lunch at a cozy café in Naryn. A road along the Naryn River. On the way there will be small passes. Arrival in Kichi Naryn by the evening. Supper on the bank of the river. Overnight stay in tents.

Kichi Naryn - Tamga

Breakfast. A trip to Tamga village (Lake Issyk-Kul). A passage through the highest Tosor pass – a highly difficult passage along the whole way of the off-road tour. Picnic. Supper and overnight stay in “Askar and Tamara” guest house.

Tamga - Jeti-Oguz - Karakol

Breakfast. A trip to Karakol. On the way a visit to “Seven Bulls” valley. The red rocks are so splendid and unusual that they were depicted on the postage stamps during the Soviet period. Another famous rock in this region is the “Broken Heart”. It’s a place of pilgrimage for couples of sweethearts. Supper and overnight stay in “GreenYard” guest house. Folklore show.

Karakol - Cholpon-Ata

Breakfast. Falconry on the way to Cholpon-Ata town. A visit to Grigoriev and Semenov gorges. A picnic in the open air. A visit to Tash-Suu thermal mineral spring. Arrival in Cholpon-Ata town. Accommodation in “Three crowns” resort center. Swimming in Lake Issyk-Kul – which is a pearl and the main point of interest in Kyrgyzstan. Supper and overnight stay in the guest house.

Cholpon-Ata - Bishkek

Breakfast. Departure for Bishkek. Rafting in the Boom gorge (optional).A visit to Burana tower–a minaret, built in the XI-th century on the territory of Karahanid khaganate, Balasagun town. Lunch at “Hawaii” café. Arrival in Bishkek. Accommodation in “Asia Mountains” hotel. Excursion around the town. Shopping for the Kyrgyz crafts and artworks. Final supper. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Departure

Transfer to “Manas” airport. Return home.

Notes

The climate in Kyrgyzstan is sharply continental, and throughout the day the temperature in the mountains can range from + 30 up to -15 degrees, that’s why we recommend the tourists to have warm shoes, warm clothing, sunscreen and sunglasses with them, as well as an individual sleeping bag (in case of sleeping in tents).
